About Us
"Lien," in Chinese, means "forging," "shaping." "Lien Dan" is a long process of experiments in pursuit of the medicine that can make people live forever. Based on such an explanation we give the name "Lien Dan" to our studio. "Dan" means the precious medicine; meanwhile, it also means "red," indicating our preference for the color. Our beliefs in gold designing find parallels in those of the alchemists in the old time. Like the alchemists, we are intrigued by all kinds of metal, not only by their qualities but also by their flexibilities. Like them devoted to the work of changing old, ordinary materials into exquisite, valuable gold, we commit ourselves to improving traditional skills and to creating new formulations.
Our Products
We do not follow new fashions, or imitate designer labels. We are a group of artistic goldsmiths. Our products are born out of our collective efforts. Each year, by using all sorts of techniques, we create works that contain different themes; they present our views on events, our interpretations of beauty, and our expressions of feelings. We work in all facets of jewelry manufacture, interior decoration, and metal fabrication.
Our Aims
We attempt to create a place for professional goldsmiths like us, for people who have the same interest and who are in need of a suitable workshop. We thus offer this studio and some courses, hoping to help professionals and amateurs as well. In addition, we hope to make some contributions to the industry of gold designing in Taiwan. The general public does not really know what gold designing is. And the development of gold fabrication in Taiwan, compared to that in Europe and in America, and in Japan and Korea, tends to be slow. We attempt to encourage more and more people to be involved in this field.
